How to create a self-care plan for your spiritual business that honors your boundaries
Owning a spiritual business without setting boundaries takes an incredible toll on your emotions, relationships and physical health. I personally experienced burn-out when I offered spiritual readings and healing sessions without honoring my boundaries. In this post, I'm sharing my boundary essentials for your self-care plan.
What is a self-care plan?
A self-care plan is a written manifestation of intentions based on your personal values, beliefs, professional standards and what works best for your energy on your entrepreneurial journey.
Whether you offer psychic readings, yoga, Reiki healings or spiritual coaching, a self-care plan creates space for movement and adjustment as your business grows.
Here's a simple structure of a self-care plan:
Step 1: Set an intention
Your intention reflects both the compassion you have for your clients and the compassion you have for yourself. It's important to honor your own wellness by practicing self-care.
Step 2: Ask Reflective Questions
Reflective questions create positive changes while centering the mind. Here are my top 3 favorite reflective questions to get you started:
1. When do I feel energized?
Connecting to the energy of balance creates inner calm energizing the mind, body and spirit.
Most people are surprised to learn, there’s a powerful word that can help you express what energizes you.
Saying, "no" to demands on your time and services that are not in alignment with your spirit is incredibly energizing.
If you're receiving a lot of requests for example, for discounts or free services (including family & friends) and it's not in alignment with your spirit saying, "no" can release deep tension because you're saying "yes" to what energizes you.
Healthy relationships honor boundaries. Identify when you feel the most energized and experience absolute freedom.
2. How am I staying connected?
I've struggled with heart-achy loneliness. I've been that awkward girl at the corner table playing Words with Friends at networking events.
For me, reaching out for support included being open about how lonely I felt running an online business.
I quickly realized I wasn't alone in my struggle.
My favorite way to connect with solopreneurs is to learn more about what they offer and their "perfect fit" clients. When you're just starting out, you know how amazing it feels to be on the receiving end of a perfect fit referral.
Are you consistently working with your perfect fit clients? If you don't have a referral process in place, now is the perfect time to create one.
Make a list of trusted contacts in your network to refer, reach out and learn more about them and their perfect fit client.
If you sell wellness or spiritual products, you can collaborate with other spiritual brand founders or simply create a super helpful resource page on your website with your favorite spiritual products. I'm happy to help with that! 😍
If your heart is achy reach out for support. There's a common myth that if you're a coach or an advisor to others you should have everything from life to business all figured out. On an intellectual level, you might be a life-long nerd like me always researching and learning. We’re ALL growing and expanding.
Let's support, connect and have genuine conversations about the journey. We're all grateful to someone for being open to sharing reflections that help us connect deeper. Connection is such an important part of your self-care plan for your business.
3. How do I give myself the best of me?
Your spiritual business creates space for a lot of unforgettable opportunities to share your best.
You may be a light-worker catering mouth-watering events, or maybe you create online spiritual development courses, what you share with the world is a gift to all of us. Take a moment to tune-in to how you give the best of you to yourself.
Step 3: Know Your Professional Standards
Professional standards help your spiritual business thrive with boundaries. Client relationship boundaries are a major part of your self-care plan. If you're offering intuitive coaching, readings, or healing sessions, be clear about practices you consider to be ethical and unethical. I highly recommend you create and share your code of ethics with your clients.
Create a code of ethics for your spiritual business
Spiritual growth is infused with experiences for our highest good. There are lessons to be learned at every stage of your business. Sometimes the frustrating "shoulda, woulda, coulda" stories that argue for one perspective are the loudest.
Expansive Energy Practice: Expand your perspective by integrating business lessons with spiritual lessons. Take a few minutes to transform disempowering stories into fresh insights that are lighting your entrepreneurial path right now.
